NTUA is the oldest and most prestigious technical university in Greece with 9 schools. Under LightCoce the Laboratory of Metallurgy, part of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering will collaborate with The Laboratory of Reinforced Concrete (LRC) of the School of Civil Engineering and the RNanolab (http://nanolab.chemeng.ntua.gr/). NTUA will be the project coordinator and also has a multiple role in LightCoce project. Under WP2 they will be involved in the administrative set up of the ecosystem, leading the task related to the launching of the open call as well as data mapping and handling task (RNanolab). NTUA will also host the production line for the preparation of lightweight concrete related products (PL2) and will actively participate in 2 test cases which foreseen the development of 3 products; lightweight ready mixed concrete, prefabricated non-structural panels and prefabricated bridge decks reinforced with FRP bars. NTUA will participate in T3.1 and T3.4 dedicated to setting up the pilot line and the characterisation techniques, as well as in T4.1, T4.4 dedicated to the test cases and T4.5 related to the open call for concrete materials and structures. Furthermore, the NTUA (Laboratory of Metallurgy and Laboratory of reinforced Concrete) under WP7 will provide with characterization services for raw materials, intermediate and final products from laboratory to pilot scale. NTUA will also be involved in activities related to the techno economic evaluation of new processes and products, safety aspects and the LCA, LCC assessments, under WP9, as well as in exploitation and dissemination activities in WPs 10 and 11.

Aercrete Technology AB is a Swedish developer and manufacturer of machinery, equipment and chemistry for production of foam concrete, a.k.a. cellular lightweight concrete (CLC). Aercrete Technology AB was founded in 2001, and currently the have in their portfolio a variety of products, including Aercrete 625 TM and Aercrete FG-6 TM, which represent state-of-the-art in foam concrete process control due to the superior patented mixing technology not available from any other manufacturer worldwide. During the implementation of LightCoce project Aercrete will be responsible for providing knowledge on the equipment, foaming agent and know-how for producing foam concrete as an end user in the LightCoce project. Aercrete’s patented process control will be utilized to ensure optimum quality and consistency of the foam concrete used in the project / TC. In particular, under LightCoce Aercrete will actively participate in WP4, leading Task T4.2. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they will also participate in WP3. Moreover, they will be involved in LCA/LCC analysis as well health and safety and regulatory aspects under WP9, as well as in dissemination and exploitation activities taking place in WP10 and 11.

Advanced Material Simulation S.L. (AMS) is a high technology SME company, focused on Materials Modelling, Material Characterization, Numerical Simulation, optimization and machine learning. AMS is formed by a multidisciplinary team of PhD level experts in civil and materials engineering with a huge experience on Material Science, Solid Mechanics, Structural Integrity, Fracture Mechanics and Mathematics and provides specialized services in engineering, R&D, consulting and training. Under LightCoce AMS will be the leader of WP8 related to the Process and materials modelling and optimisation. Task 8.1 and 8.2 will be led by AMS targeting to materials modelling, and they will also collaborate with IDENER and EXERGY under this WP. The company will provide micro, meso and macro scale simulations in order to predict the elastic modulus, compressive or tensile strength, abrasion resistance or friction coefficient; thermal as conductivity, U-value or thermal storage capacity and hygrothermal as water absorption or waterproof. AMS will also participate in the setting up of the ecosystem and the upgrade of the services provided by the ecosystem groups in WP2 and 3 and will also be involved in WP9-11 dedicated to market replication and dissemination and exploitation activities.

The Hellenic Chapter of ASHRAE was approved in 1999 by the Board of Directors of ASHRAE during the Annual Conference in Seattle, U.S.A. The number of members in the petition of creation was around 55 and the society year closed successfully with 120 members. The Hellenic Chapter in the last sixteen years has successfully organized a series of Technical Seminars and technical tours in related fields. During LightCoce ASHRAE will bring its core technical expertise associated with the built environment. They will be involved in the ecosystem setup in WP2 and 3, and they will actively participate in WP9 dedicated to standardization and regulatory aspects (Tasks 9.1 and 9.2). With their vast experience as a standardization body they will bring to the consortium their expertise in standardization for constructions and the built environment. ASHRAE will also be involved in Business Strategy, IPR management and Research -to-market aspects of the project in WP10. Finally, under WP11 they will be involved in Communication and Training, as well as Exploitation activities of the ecosystem. Closing they will organize and host a LightCoce workshop which is at their International Conference Energy and Buildings and Energy and Transportation.

Axia Innovation is built from the synergy between four main service lines: Project Management, Innovation Management, Knowledge Transfer, and Communication & Design. Located in Germany, we pride ourselves in engineering excellence, creating business opportunities for entrepreneurs, independent enterprises and academic institutions. AXIA offers services and technology transfer targeting business development, coordination and implementation. This is achieved by offering full-service concept to develop projects and networks that build a sustainable European community. AXIA will lead WP2 of LightCoce related to the administrative and operational set up of the ecosystem and they will in particular be in charge of setting up the LightCoce Ecosystem under T2.1. The development of a single entry point through a centralised platform will be at the focus of AXIAs activities as well as the formation of a non profit organisation to run the ecosystem services during and after the project. AXIA will also be involved in the dissemination activities targeting to communicate all the results to targeted audiences (tradeshows, exhibitions, community, stakeholders and other channels), in close collaboration with Task 11.1 leader UNISMART. AXIA will be responsible for the development of the project’s website and social media platform which will be updated regularly. AXIA will also lead activities related to the development of the Exploitation strategy of the ecosystem (Task 11.3).

The RISE institutes Innventia, SP, and Swedish ICT have merged in order to become a stronger research and innovation partner. Through their international collaboration programmes with academia, industry, and the public sector, they ensure the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contribute to a sustainable society. At RISE, RISE CBI Betonginstitutet (RISE CBI) will be in charge of the project and several units within RISE will contribute: RISE Surface, Process and Formulation (RISE SPF) unit, RISE Mechanics Research unit, RISE Fire research unit, RISE Sound and Vibration unit and RISE building physics unit. RISE will be in charge of the Pilot Line 2 (PL2): Cellular lightweight concrete that will focus on the design and production of multifunctional lightweight concrete elements, such as façade elements for buildings and other elements such as sound barrier walls, insulation boards and blocks. RISE will also be involved in WP2 related to the administrative and operational set up of the ecosystem. Under WP3 RISE will help in the set up and upgrade of the ecosystem pilot lines regarding PL2. RISE will lead WP4 related to the concrete processing PL validation as well as contribute in two selected test cases (TC2, TC3), as well as in the test cases brought through the open call. In WP7 Characterization of materials, components and structures RISE will also be involved and they will in particular be in charge of the Mechanical properties characterization under Task 7.2. Finally, in collaboration with all partners they will also participate in WP9-11 dedicated to market replication and dissemination and exploitation activities.

Creative nano is a startup research and commercialization SME focusing on technological product-based solutions specialized in the field of nanotechnology. With the help of nanotechnology Cnano is developing costumer-based solutions in synthesis, processing and manufacturing of nanomaterials, composite nanocoatings, nano-particles, hybrid systems and liquid systems. Cnano develops products that follow properties such as high corrosion resistant, high transparent, water repellant, easy-to-clean, anti-finger-print, abrasion-resistant, high temperature resistance, no delamination and photo catalytic activity. Cnano will be one of the end users of the ecosystem that in collaboration with Titan and NTUA will bring to the ecosystem a test case dedicated to lightweight ready mix concrete and prefabricated components with lightweight aggregates under WP4. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they also participate in WP3. Furthermore, they have been involved in nanomaterials development and characterisation and will also participate in WP7. Finally, they will be involved in LCA/LCC analysis as well health and safety and regulatory aspects under WP9, as well as in dissemination and exploitation activities taking place in WP10 and 11.

ZER0-E is a leading engineering and technology company that inspires innovative solutions across the globe that contribute to its goal of a low carbon, sustainable future in two main areas: Green Buildings and Cities and Sustainable Processes. Operating across a range of innovative low-carbon sustainable technologies, ZER0-E’s capabilities cover everything from project planning to construction and from operation to reuse throughout the project life cycle to achieve target sustainability ratings and benchmarks. ZER0-E will participate in the modelling and simulation group working under WP8 and they will lead T8.4. In particular, they will provide expertise in energy and exergy assessments through a comprehensive methodology that allows clients of the ecosystem to identify and implement energy efficiency strategies leading to savings in production, manufacturing and final use of their products. They will also participate in setting up the ecosystem being one of the core partners, under WP2, and they will undertake any preparatory activities, related to energy and exergy evaluation, in WP3. Furthermore, under task 9.5 and 9.6 they collaborate with ISQ aiming to LCA/LCC assessments performed for the ecosystem. The ecosystem’s services and results will be disseminated to stakeholders, companies, investors etc. among their network. In WP10 and WP11 they will also be involved in the innovation management services for both the ecosystem’s clients and the ecosystem itself.

The FIW Munich is a research institute and a testing, monitoring and certification authority for insulating materials, building materials and building elements. Founded in 1918 FIW today counts 70 employees and has 119 association members from all over Europe. The institute’s main clients are manufacturers of insulation materials, building materials and building components. FIW's R&D activities are oriented towards meeting the requirements of industry and connecting together applications-oriented research and the practical implementation of new ideas, science and industry but also science and society. FIW will lead the WP7 of the LightCoce project on characterization of materials, components, structures and products and coordinate the testing at the pilot lines and among the other partners for the characterization WP7. FIW will also lead Task 7.3 dedicated to the testing of hygrothermal properties of the new materials to be developed within the LightCoce project. Testing will cover the following fields: Mechanical, Thermal and Hygrothermal Characterisations of Insulating materials for buildings and technical insulation in the temperature range from -180°C up to 900° C and Testing and characterization of Building materials and components from small to large scale in dry and humid conditions. FIW will also lead Task 3.3 in order to ensure high quality testing and high quality parameters to steer the production process in the pilot lines. Additional role of FIW is the centralization of the Standardization and Certification processes for the new materials for the clients of the LightCoce ecosystem (Task 9.1). FIW will also support the modelling group of LightCoce, under WP8, with their large experience in thermal and hygrothermal modelling. Finally, under WP10 FIW will work towards exploitation routes provided by the ecosystem to its clients and under WP11 FIW will collaborate with UNISMART aiming to developing an exploitation and a communication and dissemination strategy for LightCoce.

Highftech Engineering (HFT) core business is the design, manufacturing, testing and integration of mechanical components to be used in sectors like space industry, automotive and robotics. They also provide support and consultancy for the development of new technical products for the market. HFT has already applied their knowledge and experience to a variety of different systems: e.g. to the wheels of industrial trucks, to heat exchangers for compressors used in the packaging of cigarettes, etc. HFT main activities are in the research and development of high-tech solutions and in the technology transfer based on the know-how gained from experience in the fields of High Tech. HFT is aiming to the preparation of the testcase they will participate in WP3. Also, they will bring to the project a test case from the space field, leading T6.1. In particular, they will work closely with INOP in WP6 on “Advanced ceramics” in order to exploit the SPS process for the manufacturing of a valve for high vacuum applications, currently used to fill Nitrogen and Xeon tanks of both small satellites and optical instruments pressurized with inert gas. HFT will also contribute to the WPs dealing with the material characterization (WP7) and the process optimization (WP8). Besides they will be involved also in the activities related to the market replication and exploitation of the Ecosystem and the project results (WP9-11).

IDENER is a research SME that investigates in the multidisciplinary field of Computational Science and its application to the optimization of systems and processes in key areas: Industrial Technologies; ICTs; Biotechnology; Energy; and Resource and Raw Materials Efficiency.IDENER integrates concepts from four interrelated and complementary areas: Mathematical Modelling and Simulation; Multidisciplinary Design Optimization; Control Engineering; and Software Engineering. Under LightCoce IDENER will be in charge of the development of process modelling including the integration with material modelling results as well as the development of a monitoring and optimization platform to be integrated in an industrial environment, in WP8, leading Task 8.3. Moreover, they will be involved in WP2 dedicated to the ecosystem set up, including the NPO formation, pricing policies, access to finance and the data mapping and handling. IDENER will also lead T3.4 in WP3, related to the set up of cross sectorial services of the ecosystem, including, modelling, standardisation, safety and environmental assessments. As a core partner IDENER will be involved in market replication activities aiming to lead products developed under the ecosystem closer to the market. Finally, they will be involved in marketability assessments in WP10 and dissemination and exploitation strategy development in WP11.

The Institute performs research, development, implementation activities and participates in national and international projects on non-metallurgical metal forming. The Institute has well experienced staff supported with advanced computer systems, as well as modern scientific and investigation facilities. The high quality of the investigation and development works is ensured by the Quality Management System conforming with ISO 9001:2008 and the Accredited Investigation Laboratory meeting the requirements of PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. During the implementation of LightCoce INOP will host the SPS pilot line of the ecosystem. Under WP3 they will set up and upgrade their pilot line and they will also lead WP6, where in collaboration with HFT and Sonaca they will work on the definition of the specific requirement related to: i. Definition of quantities and specification of materials to be used for valves (INOP and HFT), mullite, Al2O3, ZrO2 composites (INOP and Sonaca). ii. Definition of the specific characterization for the evaluation of the functional properties of the bulk sample produced by SPS, FAHS and standard Hot Press. Moreover, in WP6 they will also lead the task dedicated to the open call for advanced ceramics. Being a core partner of the ecosystem, INOP will be involved in the set up of the ecosystem, defining aspects related to the legal entity, management structure, pricing policies and data management and the open call. In INOP’s premises characterisation techniques will be applied to evaluate the produced structures, under WP7. INOP will also be involved in WP9 dedicated to Standardisation, regulatory, safety and environmental aspects, as well as WP10 targeting to the innovation management of the ecosystem and WP11 regarding the dissemination and exploitation activities of the ecosystem.

ISQ is an independent, private, non-profit, technical, scientific and industrial oriented organization founded in 1965, with international presence in 16 countries, spanning 4 continents. ISQ main activities include technical inspections, consultancy, testing, metrology, training and research, development and innovation. These activities cover a wide range of technical areas such as materials, structural integrity, risk assessment, sustainability, eco and energy efficiency, health and safety, quality assurance, production technologies, industrial automation and robotics. ISQ provides support to different industrial sectors such as process industries, construction and infrastructures, aeronautical and aerospace, automotive, Energy (including renewables) and oil &gas, among others. In the LightCoce, ISQ will lead the WP9 “Market replication services” dedicated to Standardization, regulatory, safety and environmental aspects being responsible mainly for Environmental and Occupational safety & Health assessment support services and process eco-efficiency. ISQ will also be involved in the project dissemination and Exploitation activities (WP11) namely in training activities related with technologies developed.

The Ceramic Industry Research Association (ITC-AICE) is a Private non-profit Research Institute recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness as Technology Centre by Royal Decree 2093/2008. The competence attained through ITC-AICE’s wide-ranging research activity enables to extend its field of action to other types of processes and materials. Particularly ITC-AICE works in the field of ceramic processing, energy efficiency, and industry’s environmental impact minimization (innovative waste recovery solutions and emissions reduction), as well as in the functionalisation of ceramic surfaces and in the achievement of new technical performance and aesthetic features of products related to the habitat hyper-sector and other industries, such as high-tech tools advanced ceramics, automotive or petrochemical sectors. ITC-AICE will host the pilot line for lightweight ceramic tiles and under WP2 and WP3 they will work with all partners in setting up the ecosystem and upgrading their pilot line to invite test cases to their premises, under WP5. One of these test cases will be the development of lightweight porcelain tiles with NOx degradation properties and will be implemented along with KERABEN, partner of the project. ITC-AICE will also provide LightCoce ecosystem with characterization (WP7) and standardization services (WP9), based on its wide expertise in ceramic products testing and on its accredited laboratories for European and international certification. In particular, ITC-AICE has full capacity for ceramic tile and rooftile standardisation through UNE-EN 14411and UNE-EN 13004. Finally, ITC-AICE will actively participate in the dissemination and communication of LightCoce activities and results, under WP11, to the ceramic community. ITC-AICE will finally collaborate with SIE and UNISMART in order to provide information on the exploitation plan of the LightCoce ecosystem as described in WP10 and WP11.

Within the Open Innovation Test Beds, KERABEN will focus on the Conventional ceramics Pilot Line validation and in the variety of innovation management tools affordable and accessible for industry based on specific business models developed through the project. Additionally, aiming to the preparation of the test cases they will participate in WP3. Finally, KERABEN will actively contribute in other activities, including characterisation, modelling, market replications services, innovation management services, and dissemination and exploitation activities for the ecosystem.

Mostostal Warszawa S.A. is one of the largest construction companies in Poland with 70-years history. The company is active in all basic sectors of the construction market specializing in bridges and steel construction, public utility buildings, industrial components, environmental protection projects as well as roads and underground constructions. Company acts as a general contractor of investment projects and provides turnkey execution of construction assignments. Mostostal Warszawa S.A provides variety of across-the-board services, ranging from execution of reinforced concrete and construction works, through delivery and erection of steel and structural elements to assembly of high pressure piping and boilers. MOW will be one of the end users of LightCoce ecosystem bringing a testcase in the field of infrastructures. Aiming to the preparation of the testcase they will participate in WP3. MOW will develop innovative bridge deck solution exploiting the new LightCoce lightweight ready mix concrete with self-sensing functionalities, under WP4, leading Task 4.4. To this end they will work closely with NTUA in order to develop lighter concrete decks, will be partially reinforced with corrosion-resistant composite rods and through the combined use of lightweight concrete and FRP rebars. MOW will also contribute to the WPs dealing with the material characterization (WP7) and the process optimization (WP8). Furthermore, they will be involved also in the activities related to the market replication and exploitation of the Ecosystem and the project results (WP9-11).

Nanocyl SA was founded in 2002 and is currently the leading manufacturer of carbon nanotube (CNT) powders and CNT-based materials (compounds based on CNTs dispersed in different matrices) worldwide. As an innovative company, Nanocyl is very proactive in the field of research and development and is always looking for new applications of CNTs. The strategic axes of the company are energy, transportation, electronics packaging and industrial applications. Nanocyl possesses a strong team dedicated to R&D and technical developments with almost one third of its employees devoted to these activities. Nanocyl, being one of the end users of the ecosystem will collaborate with AER, NTS and MOW in three test cases (TC2, TC3, TC4), under WP4. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they will also participate in WP3. Nanocyl will be in charge to deliver different kinds of dispersion based multiwall carbon nanotubes. New dispersion development according to the specification required by end user in term of electrical conductivity or mechanical properties and in term of processing. Nanocyl will also contribute to the WPs dealing with the material characterization (WP7) and the process optimization (WP8). Finally, they will be involved also in the activities related to the market replication and exploitation of the Ecosystem and the project results (WP9-11).

NTS, is a manufacturer of curtain walls in CLS (panels), with thermal, fire resistant and lighter standard, with wide range of exterior finishes. The thirty-year experience of the technical and production staff, the organization and the particular lay-out of the plant, allow Logic panels, to provide a quality product and high quality can be used both in the construction industry (warehouses and offices) both in the field of commercial / civil (Shopping centers, Convention Centers, Executive offices, etc ...), or made of prefabricated structures in place. The company has a proven experience in pre-casted concrete components with dedicated factories for panels manufacture and will be thus responsible for the prototyping of the new LightCoce panels, while it will strongly contribute with know-how and expertise to their development. To this end they will be involved in WP4 aiming to the validation of the concrete pilot line and they will develop sandwich panels in collaboration with RISE, as well as in WP7 and WP8 dealing with the characterisation and materials and process modelling, respectively. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they will also participate in WP3. NTS will also be involved in WP9 dedicated to Standardisation, regulatory, safety and environmental aspects, as well as WP10 targeting to the innovation management of the ecosystem and WP11 regarding the dissemination and exploitation activities of the ecosystem.

Schlagmann Poroton GmbH & Co KG is a company that develops, produces and sells bricks and façade panels in Bavaria (Southern Part of Germany) and bordering countries. It is an affiliated company of Wienerberger group, the world’s largest producer of bricks. Schlagmann, with about 340 employees and five brick-plants are part of Wienerberger`s network of European plants and one specific plant in Zeilarn, Germany acts as the innovation arm of Wienerberger / Schlagmann. In LightCoce, under WP5 Schlagmann will be the end user collaborating with THN with its test case. The new knowledge regarding the lightweight brick material will be used for implementation in large pilot scale production. Therefore, Schlagmann will lead task 5.2 and will provide to the pilot line the necessary specifications and requirements for end product development. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they will also participate in WP3. Characterisation (WP7) and Modelling and optimisation services (WP8) will be offered to this test case in collaboration with the relevant ecosystem groups. Furthermore, they will provide all necessary information to ISQ for providing LCA/LCC analysis as well as for health and safety and regulatory compliance aspects under WP9. Finally, marketability assessments and IPR management will be dealt within WP10, while Dissemination and exploitation activities will take place in WP11.

Azimut Space GmbH (formerly Sonaca Space GmbH) is a Space Engineering company with more than 12 years experience in thermo-mechanical engineering and in the development of payloads and subsystems.

The company, founded in 2007 primarily as a thermal engineering company, has expanded its portfolio over the years, and now offers complete thermal solutions, thermal engineering services, thermal hardware as well as development of instruments and subsystems.

Azimut Space GmbH (ASG) has its premises in Berlin with in-house developed Thermal Vacuum Chambers, Thermal Cycling Chamber and a Thermal Characterization unit. Additionally, the lab has a number of other auxiliary support equipment like a 3D printer, LN2 vessel, and other mechanical machining equipment. Azimut Space GmbH will be collaborating with INOP under WP6, as an end user, of the test case related to re-entry space vehicles. During LightCoce SPS pilot plant validation, quaternary SiBCN ceramics, h-BN, mullite and its composites will be tested for applications at leading edges and nose-cones for a next generation of re-entry space vehicles and also for the thermal protection materials. Moreover, with the aim of the testcases’ preparation they will participate in WP3. SSG will also have an overview of characterisation tests and multiscale modelling activities in WP7 and WP8, accordingly. In WP9 standardisation, regulatory, safety and health aspects of end products will also be dealt. SSG will be involved in Business Strategy, IPR management and Research -to-market aspects of the project in WP10. Finally, under WP11 they will be involved in Communication and Training, as well as Exploitation activities of the ecosystem.

Stam is a private engineering company, based in Genoa, Italy. The main mission of the company is to provide engineering services to industries. Since its establishment in 1997, the company has been specializing in design and development of high-tech solutions, based on conventional and non-conventional robotics and mechatronics. Stam invests a significant part of its turnover in R&D thus providing their customers with most qualified and edging competencies to drive development based on availability and affordability of technological trends. Innovation, research and development are the core competencies of Stam. Stam will provide key personnel with strong expertise in the respective research and development areas. In WP3, STAM will lead activities in Task 3.2, being responsible for the upgrade of the pilot lines in terms of monitoring and control of the manufacturing processes to improve and optimize the quality of the products. Therefore, STAM will have an overview of all test cases accessing the ecosystem, related to the pilot lines validation. Based on its experience in the H2020 project CloudiFacturing as Digital Innovation Hub, Stam will play a key role in WP2 “Ecosystem mapping”, in the setup of the Ecosystem and participate to WP9 “Market replication”. The company will also strongly contribute to WP10 “Innovation Management” and to the project “Dissemination and exploitation activities” (WP11).

Sustainable Innovations Europe is a Spanish engineering SME whose technical team has more than 10 years of experience in European research collaborative projects. The company main goal is to fill the gap between research activities and market implementation, that’s to say turning sustainable ideas into profitable and environmentally friendly business models. SIE expertise lies on research to market, business strategies and sustainable communication methods, helping organizations promote their innovations under a sustainable and circular economy thinking method. The core competencies offered by SIE, which are associated with the connection between research activities, are structured in four main pillars; Research2Market, Business Strategy, Communication and Training, that can be summarized on the knowledge in legal and economic barriers for the market uptake combined with the dissemination & communication of new technologies at European and International level. In LightCoce, SIE will participate in the ecosystem set up in WP2 leading activities related to additional funding mechanisms (Task 2.3). Likewise, SIE will be working with UNISMART (WP10) in the economic sustainability of the project to ensure the success from the economic and legal perspective, being WP leader (Task 10.2). SIE will also use its experience in legal barriers as a key point for the leadership of the IPR management (Task 10.3), and it will give the project an extra value to ensure the immersion of LightCoce services developed during the project. Under WP11 SIE will collaborate with AXIA and ISQ participating in the exploitation, dissemination, and training activities.

Technical University of Nuremberg (THN); Faculty of Materials Engineering: The THN currently has over 13,500 students in 12 faculties. THN is very active in research and has the highest third-party funding of all Bavarian universities. An interdisciplinary and application-oriented cooperation with industrial partners and associations takes place in around 100 well-equipped laboratories at the university. Since 1973 when, THN was funded, the knowledge of the bricks and their properties as well as the associated production processes have been passed on to the students in the Faculty of Materials Technology. Energy Campus Nuremberg (EnCN): THN has been a partner of the Energie Campus Nuremberg (EnCN) since 2011. EnCN is working on realizing the vision of a sustainable energy industry based on renewable energies. It is a new research platform for the development and demonstration of a closed renewable energy chain from energy generation, storage/transport to the efficient use of energy. Under LightCoce, THN will be one of the pilot line owners dedicated to the extrusion of lightweight bricks. In WP2 THN will be involved in the setting up of the ecosystem, while in WP3 they will set up and upgrade their pilot line, integrating monitoring systems as appropriate. In WP5, Task 5.2 will be led by THN, which represent the test case of Schlagmann, while in Task 5.3 they will collaborate with test cases brought through the open call. New nanoporous lightweight bricks will be then tested under WP7. In WP9 they will collaborate with ISQ in order to conduct environmental and safety assessments and using their expertise in the field. Finally, in WP10 and WP11 they will participate in innovation, exploitation and dissemination activities to boost the ecosystem in relative stakeholders highlighting the services provided and the opportunities arising when joining such an ecosystem.

TITAN Cement S.A. is the largest cement and building materials producer in Greece and ranked among the top 30 producers globally. Founded in 1902, TITAN Group employs more than 5,450 people world-wide and is growing as a multi-regional, vertically integrated cement producer. The portfolio of TITAN covers the production of cement, concrete, aggregates, mortars and other building materials; the transportation - distribution of products, and the processing and industrial utilization of fly ash. TITAN Group’s CSR and Sustainability commitment is demonstrated in its own policies and practices as well as through active participation in international initiatives. Titan will collaborate with Cnano and NTUA, under WP4, and they will lead Task 4.1, aiming to the development of nano-enabled lightweight concrete formulations, as in the form of ready mix concrete, as well as for developing lightweight panels. Aiming to the preparation of the testcases they will also participate in WP3. Nano metakaoline and expanded perlite microspheres will be used for providing lightweight attributes to concrete. Additionally, due to the large expertise in projects development, TITAN will contribute actively in other activities, including characterisation (WP7), modelling (WP8), market replications services (WP9), innovation management services (WP10), and dissemination and exploitation activities for the ecosystem (WP11).

University of Padova is a major research university and currently has 13 schools. It will be represented in the project by the Department of Industrial Engineering. The department promotes and manages scientific and technological research projects in all fields of Industrial Engineering, including Aerospace Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Materials and Mechanical Engineering, as well as industrial technology transfer initiatives. UPD will be involved in WP2 align with all core partners targeting to the set up of the ecosystem, including establishing a NPO for managing all ecosystem services and activities. UPD will also participate in WP3 dedicated to the setting up of the ecosystem services, namely they will work on any preparatory actions related to characterisation. UPD will lead Task 7.4: Characterisation of nano-enabled functionalities. In this capacity, UPD will coordinate activities and implement solutions at consortium level for the full characterization and qualification of components containing nano-sized additives, providing additional functionalities with respect to standard components. UPD, with the collaboration of the partners, will generate characterization protocols that, besides being applied to the products manufactured in the pilot lines of the project, will be offered to outside parties interested in validating lightweight, nanostructured components. UPD will also contribute to all the other activities in WP 9,10 &11, dealing with market replication, exploitation and dissemination activities of the LightCoce ecosystem.

Unismart is the Foundation of the University of Padova, in charge of managing all the technology transfer and innovation consulting activities directed to companies, industrial associations, professionals, investors, banks, and other public and private bodies – both on a national and international scale. UNISMART focuses its activities in the provision of innovation and business support services to its Community of 50+ industrial companies and SMEs operating in several market sectors (e.g. Manufacturing, ICT, Transport, Construction, Environment, Energy, etc.). The service portfolio of UNISMART includes innovation radar activities, ICT competence assessment, technology rating, business modelling and planning, access to finance and investment support, market studies, as well as business development services, enabled by the knowledge of the University researchers across different disciplines and scientific areas. Unismart will lead WP11 related to the Dissemination and Exploitation activities of the ecosystem and will be in charge of analysing the pricing policies for the services in Task 2.2 as well as the overall business model and value proposition in Task 10.1. This activity will support on one side the deployment of a portfolio of sustainable services associated with the intended new legal entity as well as the overall marketing plan to capture the market, starting from the creation of success stories to validate the model with a first round of projects with our users in the consortium and a second round of pilot projects with an open call. A Community will be created starting from our partners and the companies expressing an intent to use the LightCoce Pilot Lines as initial element to refine the overall business plan and guarantee long term sustainability.
